Just In: IGP Deploys Four Commissioners Of Police To Ogun For Elections
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has deployed four Police Commissioners to supervise elections in Ogun State. The Police Commissioners deployed are Gbenga Adeyanju (Ogun Central), Fimihan Adeoye (Ogun West), Yemi Agunbiade (Ogun East) and Ahmed Iliyasu, who will be in charge of the state. The presence of the Commissioners of Police in Ogun State may not be unconnected to the incident at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally held on Monday. At the rally, APC leaders were pelted with various objects during the endorsement of Dapo Abiodun as the governorship candidate of the party in Ogun.
Lagos State Police Command Denies Pre-Election Raid
The Lagos state police command has reacted to some rumours making the ground that the force has planning to raid some location and arrest some Lagos residents ahead of the Presidential polls which comes up on Saturday, 16th February. In a statement by the command's spokes man Chike Oti, It said "The attention of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu mni, has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the social media to the effect that the Command will carry out a general raid, on Thursday, February 14 and Friday, February 15, 2019. According to the command's spokes person, it said that "The writer went further to warn people not to keep late nights on the aforementioned days due to the so called 'raid'. In view of the development, the Command wishes to unequivocally state that the information did not emanate from it and should be regarded as untrue.
